Born in Cairns, Australia and living my early childhood in the remote lands of Northern Queensland embedded in me a deep love of plants and the beauty of the forms in nature. Being surrounded by tropical wilderness nourished my creativity. The density of plant life forces the individual to look at the minute detail; each crevice, cavern and turn of path produces entirely unique worlds. This deep understanding of diverse worlds that exist in plain sight is the genesis of my work.
I have remained in touch with this joy and love of the natural world throughout my life. The transition to Vermont in 1985 altered my perspective to one of vast vistas and expansive space. In 1995 I attended Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI. This rigorous focus on art was invigorating and gave me a good foundation. I refocused and clarified my artistic direction. I found 3-dimesional forms to be the best way to express the moments that portray the beauty that I acknowledge.
Now residing in Vermont with my husband and three children all of school age, I am able to resume my work and continue to explore this joyful reflection in art form.
